Two photos of the annual Christmas Lights event at Stony Stratford when the High Street
is closed to traffic and a wide range of local organisations set up stalls to raise funds.
Wolverton Inner Wheel has supported this event for many years and sells home made
produce which raises a substantial amount for local charities. The November weather is
often extremely cold so our members share the selling with breaks for hot drinks.
A Folk dance evening sets the tone for Christmas to
come
December celebration meal at a local Village Inn
Another Club Tradition is to share a lunchtime in January with the President for a self catered Soup
and Pudding lunch. A good opportunity to chat about the events of Christmas.
It is not all eating and drinking in Inner Wheel !

February we received a cheque from

February saw another great fundraising effort with

During March, Ursula, one of our past presidents who had
reloacted to her home country of Germany some time ago,
returned to the UK for a short visit and met up with a group of
Inner Wheel members in Stony Stratford. A very pleasant
evening
-
During March 20 members shared an evening private
visit to theHotter Shoe store in Central Milton Keynes
and enjoyed a couple of hours private viewing with a
buffet and raffle.
Also in March, the International Group arranged a tasting menu one evening at the
Antep Kitchen in Wolverton so that members could experience a range of Turkish
food. A very successful event.
In addition to the usual monthly meetings, April
saw an whist drive run for charity fundraising
In May, a group of members had a few days
away in Bruges ( Belgium ) - We understand
they enjoyed themselves, but the pictures sent
in were none too clear. We say nothing !
June
The last boxes of childrens shoes were sorted and
prepared for despatch to a Croatian Charity we have
supported for many years. This will be the last
shipment as we no longer have the storage and the
person who send the shoes out is retiring.
The shoes were collected by us from a local store,
saved when children came in for larger sizes and
most were in good condition and too good for
scrapping.
They were shipped out to orphanages and homes in
Eastern Croatia where many folk were homed after
leaving other ex-Yugoslavian countries after the
troubles.
